If so, what a really, really bad line of code someone came up with here. I can't imagine this is overloading the system to this extent. I only need access to one folder (about 125 photos) to run the screen saver.

It would appear that this is somehow an iPhoto issue. Assuming in this process the CPU is overheating.Īnyway, I've seen one other thread that went unresolved with this and the basic suggestion was, "Your iPhoto Library is too big"? Too big for what? It's the same as it was when I was running 10.6.8 a couple of days ago, and it wasn't too big then. It then reboots, and the firmware makes the fan come on very fast. What is it doing, loading my entire iPhoto Library? Then it just won't respond to anything and I have to use the power button. Literally waited a couple of hours to see if anything would happen. Here's the best part when I go to the hot corner that activates the screen saver, the screen goes black with a small message that says, "loading photos" and it stays in this mode forever. I tried to make ANY changes I could before the SP went into beach ball mode, but it won't allow me. I have to force quit and try the process over several times. I get the spinning beach ball of annoyance and then it just sits there. As soon as I tried to select an image folder preference for the Screen Saver, all **** broke loose. I was able to get the iPhoto album selected for the desktop and choose my correct options. I wanted to access some iPhoto albums and use that for both. It was on some default selections for both. I open System Preferences, select Desktop & Screen Saver. Here's the sequence I am trying to just set up my desktop and screen saver in System Preferences. Have to use the power button to shut it off because it won't respond to anything.

Aren't upgrades supposed to improve performance?Īnyway, I have owned this MacBook Pro since 2010 and it has NEVER locked up on me. Noticing that my machine hangs a good bit in various applications.
